Advancements in neuroscience increasingly rely on optical and electromagnetic technologies to study and treat brain function with unprecedented precision. This seminar will introduce cuttingedge techniques such as functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS), optogenetics, fiber photometry, functional ultrasound (fUS), and transcranial brain stimulation. These non-invasive and minimally invasive methods utilize light, sound, and electromagnetic waves to probe neural activity, connectivity, and modulation. By discussing their optical principles, real-world applications, and future potential, this talk will provide insight into how wavelength-based tools are transforming neuroscience.
